MANCHESTER UNITED "MAN UTD" FOOTBALL CLUB

Manchester United Football Club are, without question, the most successful football club of the Premier League era, with 10 title wins since 1993 (18 in all) equaling only arch-rivals Liverpool's own tally of League crowns.

One of the most memorable years in Manchester United's recent history was the treble-winning 1999 season when they carried off the UEFA Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup.

This was followed by a thrilling 2007-08 campaign, when Manchester United completed the Premier League and Champions League double.

Man Utd's trophy-filled history is closely woven around two great managers, Sir Matt Busby and current boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Busby, ironically a former player of two of Manchester United's biggest rivals Manchester City and Liverpool, arrived at the club in 1945 and presided over five Football League Championships.

His legendary status was cemented through success and tragedy. Busby cultivated a young, talented side nicknamed the 'Busby Babes' who won the League title in both 1956 and 1957, but the following year his team was all but wiped out in a catastrophic air crash in Munich when 22 people, including seven players, were killed.

Busby almost lost his own life, but recovered to build a new team, including greats like Bobby Charlton, Dennis Law and George Best, which again won the League in 1965 and 1967, and then famously won the European Cup in 1968.

The fallow years, in terms of League success, followed until the arrival of Ferguson in 1986. The Scot was not an immediate success. It wasn't until 1993 that he brought the football League crown back to Old Trafford, playing a different and efficient football style.

Manchester United began life in 1878 as Newton Heath Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway FC. As Newton Heath, they first joined the Football League in 1892.

After being rescued from financial ruin by a local businessman, the club changed its name in 1902 to Manchester United Football Club and within six years had won the Division One title, the FA Cup in 1909 and a further title in 1911, a year after moving to their current home, Old Trafford.

Man United are a well oiled machine

United are like a machine, well oiled, drilled and is made and programmed to do one thing - win the premier league. Its not just your standard machine though it has old and trusted parts (Scholes and Giggs) Technical parts (berbatov, nani) And a secret weapon that comes good against weaker opposition (Rooney) - Watch out for the January window Fergie has his eye on two players one is a big one who will turn this machine from a Dell with windows XP, to a Super Computer with upto date breath tkaing technology, haha
