The 1950s were the Seasiders' glory years an era that saw the football club achieve success that included reaching the FA Cup Final three times, including that famous 1953 success, and finishing second in the Football League in 1955-56, a club record.

Bad Day for Blackpool
6 October 2009 - 9:06am — Steve GerrardMy initial thoughts were that everyone has a bad day. After watching the highlights I realised that the Blackpool back line did struggle with those direct balls over their heads into the box. They need to figure out what to do with their line. It's not a bad day if your back line fail to deal with aerial balls into the box on 3 occassions. They did just watch it sail over their heads. I think its cause for concern, but realistically we have to see if the problem persists in Blackpoll's next game against Plymouth.
Blackpool Hammered at Palace
5 October 2009 - 12:13pm — George BestBlackpool who are not doing to badly in the championship were found wanting this past week against a rampant Crystal Palace. Blackpool's defense were struggling with the direct balls into the box, 3 out of the 4 goals came from a direct ball into the box landing just behind the defense. Blackpool were left watching as Palace players strolled into the box and picked their spots under almost no pressure. In defense Ian Halloway, Blackpool manager, has made a call for technology to be introduced.
